Why does LipSense burn or tingle when applied?

Quick answer

A brief tingle or mild burning feeling when you apply SeneGence LipSense® Long-Lasting Liquid Lip Color comes from its fast-drying alcohol base evaporating as the color film sets, and dry or unconditioned lips feel it more. It typically lessens with regular use as LipSense Moisturizing Gloss helps restore moisture; remove the color and stop use if discomfort persists, intensifies or feels concerning.

Why does LipSense tingle as it sets?

The Alcohol Denat. carrier (see the LipSense ingredients) evaporates as the Permeable Polymer Matrix dries into a flexible color film. How can I make LipSense more comfortable?

  • Apply to clean, completely dry, intact lips, never over chapped or broken skin.
  • Sweep three paper-thin layers and let each one set before the next.
  • Seal the color with LipSense Moisturizing Gloss. Apply after LipSense Long-Lasting Liquid Lip Color to seal color. Reapply throughout the day to refresh hydration and shine, or wear alone on bare lips.
