How LipSense Started SeneGence in 1999

In 1999 Joni Rogers-Kante kissed her family goodbye and her lipstick went with her.
She could have made a lipstick that stayed on. She made one that stayed on and looked after the lips underneath, because the interesting part was never the color; it was the hours you wear it.
That is also what the name says. Senescence, the way skin ages. Intelligence, the part you get to decide. Aging intelligently.
SeneGence combines a full range of color cosmetics, led by long-wear technologies, with a full anti-aging skincare catalogue in one 24-hour system.
The color came first. The skincare was always the point.

Open with the founding problem rather than the founding date: color that transferred and had to be rebuilt. Then ask where a client most wants fewer interruptions and take the conversation to the product that answers her actual morning, color, or evening need. LipSense is the demonstration, not the whole catalogue.

The founding brief joined two variables: pigment transfer and the work of rebuilding color. LipSense answered it with a dedicated long-wear system, and that system never became the template for everything after it. Preparation, daytime color, deliberate removal and evening care each kept their own vehicle, application method and performance profile.

Volcanic Ash for Your Face, Pumice for Your Body

Your face and your back do not want the same scrub, and using one on the other is how people end up with skin that feels raw instead of smooth.
So we went looking for a gentler grit. SeneGence selects Vanuatu volcanic ash about 1.5 km downwind of Mount Yasur's active vent for its fine, near-spherical profile. Round particles roll across skin. Jagged ones drag.
That is the ash in Facial Resurfacer. Heavier polishing is a body job, and it gets its own formula.
how to use itselection, application & troubleshooting
For the face, use current US Facial Resurfacer on clean, moist skin: a small amount, light circular motions, away from the eyes, rinsed well, twice weekly or as needed. Where Smoothing Body Scrub is sold, keep it to body areas that want heavier polishing. The two techniques are not interchangeable.

SeneGence collects the ash approximately 1.5 kilometers downwind of Mount Yasur's active vent, where the heavier fragments have already dropped out, and it is selected for a fine, near-spherical particle profile. Current US Facial Resurfacer pairs that ash with walnut shell powder for facial exfoliation. Smoothing Body Scrub is a separate body formula that pairs volcanic ash with pumice. Each keeps its own directions and its own zone.

One face, one day, a routine that moves cleanly from skincare to color and back to evening care.
Climate Control hydrates cleansed skin. GLP Complex targets the visible concern you chose. MakeSense Foundation, BlushSense, and ShadowSense build the look. At night, remove each long-wear formula with the remover made for it, then finish with Evening Moisturizer.

Map her day with named products. Press Climate Control over cleansed skin, add only the treatment her visible goal calls for, and finish skincare before color. Place BlushSense under foundation for diffusion or over it for a brighter pop, and blend ShadowSense inside its working window. In the founding LipSense method, let layer three set, then sweep on LipSense Moisturizing Gloss for hydration, comfort, and shine.
