SeneGence Green Initiative 2026: Clean Beauty & the Naked Bottle Philosophy
Open a SeneGence product and one green choice is already visible: there is no individual retail outer carton. We call that our Naked Bottle Philosophy: the ingredients and directions stay on the container itself, and the money a carton would have cost goes into the formula. Fulfillment cardboard follows a separate stream, and Microbiome Restorative Evening Moisturizer has a refill. Inside the container, we formulate to the European Union cosmetic standard, add our own NO List, and report measurable progress as legacy products are reformulated. The Box We Never Printed
SeneGence’s Naked Bottle packaging, part of our Green Initiative, means every product reaches you without an individual retail outer carton: what you lift out of the shipping box is the product itself.
Most beauty cartons are opened once, then flattened for the bin. SeneGence leaves that individual retail outer carton out altogether; that is our Naked Bottle Philosophy. Ingredients and directions are printed on the container itself, and the money that would have gone into cardboard went into the formula instead. SeneGence reported zero outer cartons used on products in 2026.

how to use it
Hold the labeled container: the ingredients and directions are right there, and the missing presentation box is the point. For Microbiome Restorative Evening Moisturizer, keep the jar and replenish it with the Refill Pod. Refilling your Microbiome Evening Moisturizer saves approximately 96% plastic versus repurchasing the jar. Follow the refill steps. SeneGence’s 2026 responsibility report states a goal of refillable jars for all appropriate products by 2030, updating packaging for one to two products a year.

The Naked Bottle Philosophy is source reduction within the SeneGence Green Initiative. The individual retail outer carton is never made, so that packaging is prevented at the start; shipping and fulfillment materials remain a separate stream. It is one concrete way we reduce packaging waste within the wider goal of reducing our carbon footprint.
Where the Shipping Cardboard Goes
Your SeneGence order travels in a shipping box. That box is separate from the product's packaging.
Every SeneGence fulfillment center uses a cardboard baler for recycling, repurposing, or waste-to-energy routes. The baler presses cardboard into dense loads a processor can take.
Once the delivery box reaches your doorstep, follow your local rules for it.

What We Refuse to Put in a SeneGence Formula
In the U.S., a beauty brand can decide what it means by clean. SeneGence starts with a benchmark you can name. We formulate to the European Union cosmetic standard, which prohibits 1,700+ substances. Against that European Union benchmark, the FDA bans approximately eleven to thirty ingredients from cosmetics.
All SeneGence products are formulated with NO parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde / formaldehyde-releasers, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), drying waxes, carcinogens, animal by-products or PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). SeneGence also leaves out lead and mineral oil, and formulates without gluten-containing ingredients. Never tested on animals.

Start with the European standard for the brand-level choice. For the product in your hand, turn to its current ingredient list: know what you are avoiding and why, then check that exact formula instead of treating the company standard as an answer for every individual product. If an MUA or esthetician is helping you choose, read that label together.

The European Union standard supplies the outside benchmark. All SeneGence products are formulated with NO parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde / formaldehyde-releasers, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), drying waxes, carcinogens, animal by-products or PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). SeneGence also leaves out lead and mineral oil, and formulates without gluten-containing ingredients. SeneGence maintains a company-defined NO List and updates it with global research and regulatory developments. If an ingredient’s safety data is incomplete, disputed or heading toward restriction, SeneGence leaves it out even when it is still legal. SeneGence formulates without SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), which it treats as a harsh surfactant that strips the skin's natural lipid barrier, and uses gentler cleansing agents instead; for LipSense® Long-Lasting Liquid Lip Color, it favors its breathable Permeable Polymer Matrix over drying waxes. Has Your Favorite SeneGence Product Been Reformulated?
A long-time favorite can change while the name on the front stays familiar.
SeneGence's latest responsibility report (2026 edition) states that 95% of legacy-product reformulations were complete toward its Clean Beauty Standard. SeneGence is bringing older products up to the company-defined Clean Beauty Standard one at a time. That is why the ingredient list you memorized in 2019 may read differently today.

how to use it
If you are returning to a favorite, use the program figure as brand context, then read the current ingredient list and directions on your exact product before you apply it. The brand-level progress number cannot tell you whether that one formula changed.

The reported progress uses products that predate our company-defined Clean Beauty Standard as its denominator. Its endpoint is the share of those reformulations reported complete in the latest responsibility report (2026 edition).
